I have been around Lake Martin for well over 39 years. I first saw the lake flying in and out of Maxwell while in the Air Force and realized then that this would be a great retirement spot. After deciding to retire from the Air Force in 1975, I moved to the Lake. I began teaching at Troy State University and, not wanting to sit idle on the weekends, I began selling real estate and specializing in lake properties. I was the first outside salesperson to join Lake Breeze early in its inception. Typical weekend retreats have appreciated in price tremendously since that time. A native of east-central Alabama, I lived in Prattville for many years and worked in banking and real estate for 12 of those years. My family and I began our delightful Lake Martin experience 20 years ago. My husband and I invested in our first Lake Martin property in 1995 in the Bama Park area. After remodeling that cabin ourselves, we upgraded to a new, larger home in the Real Island Community.
