My name is Debbie Cummins and I am a lifelong resident of Monroe. I am interested in obtaining a position that allows me to use the skills I have for a challenging place in the workforce. I am the mother of two children, Christy, 20, who is a Sophomore at LSU and Jamie, 17, a senior at River Oaks School. I enjoy spending time with my children and participating in the various activities they are involved in. My family has lived in Ouachita Parish since the 1800's. I have deep roots in this area both personally and professionally. I have been involved in several different organizations over the years. I was a member of the Junior League of Monroe from 1994-2004 and held several positions within the organization including Assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, and Secretary. I was a member of the Ways and Mean committee and was instrumental in the formation of the Spring Market. Being a part of this organization allowed me to meet many people and be a part of something that I truly loved. I have been active at River Oaks School for 13 years. I am serving on the Board of Directors presently as secretary, a position I have held for 3 years. I have also chaired the Auction, a major fundraising event for the school on 3 separate occasions and am currently involved with the planning for 2007. I have enjoyed being a part of this because it allowed me to feel like I was doing something not only for my children but other children as well. |
