Ophir/Imogene Passes

Description:
One of the most popular tours over the old wagon toll road (Ophir Pass)at 11,789 feet providing a beautiful view of the Mount Wilson massif to the West. We will slowly descend down into old Ophir which was once a ghost town but now somewhat rejuvenated. From there we will proceed to the ghost town of Alta and then on into Telluride for lunch. After lunch we will drive up through the great Tomboy mining district and on to Imogene Pass at 13,114 feet. From here you will enjoy a wonderful view of the Red Mountains, Lake Tarmigan and Ft. Peabody, once the highest military fortress in the U.S. From here we will wind our way down past the site of the fabulous Camp Bird Gold Mine and then on into Ouray.
