Description: This is the highest drivable pass in the San Juan Mountains. Crossing Canyon Creek, we begin our trek up Imogene Basin past the sight of the Yellow Rose Mine and water falls. As we near tree line we pass level 2 of the incredible Camp Bird Gold Mine. Pushing upwards into steeper terrain we come to Imogene Pass at 13,114' with incredible vistas all the way into Utah. On return we will overlook the beautiful Lake Tarmigan and see the site of Ft. Peabody, once the highest military fortress in the U.S. |
